The Yale Department of Pediatrics is dedicated to providing the highest quality education in the field of Pediatrics; to providing leaders and leadership for the field; and acquiring and disseminating new scientific knowledge pertinent to the causes and treatments of pediatric disorders.
Our faculty and staff are uncompromising in their commitment to the welfare of children and adolescents. The Department of Pediatrics is a regional and national center for referral and consultation that provides comprehensive pediatric care. Many of our physicians are internationally recognized for their innovative approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of childhood conditions such as arrhythmias, cystic fibrosis, childhood cancers, diabetes, dyslexia, hemoglobinopathies, infectious diseases, and complications of prematurity, as well as many other disorders.
Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital (YNHCH), which opened in 1993 as the first full-service acute care hospital for children in Connecticut, is part of Yale-New Haven Hospital. With 213 beds, YNHCH is designed to meet the special needs of children. Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital offers the region’s largest and most comprehensive array of pediatric services. YNHCH is accredited by the American Nurse Credentialing Center as a Magnet hospital.
