Pediatric Seizure Cluster Study

What is the purpose of this trial?

The purpose of this study is to investigate the prevalence of seizure clusters in the pediatric patient population from two tertiary epilepsy centers: the Epilepsy center at Boston Children's Hospital and the Yale Comprehensive Epilepsy Center outpatient clinic; using the ┬┐standard┬┐ definition of seizures clusters (2 or more seizures within a 6 hour period). Objectives of our study include: Determine the prevalence and characteristics of seizure clusters using various definitions, including one that would identify those most likely to benefit from rapidly acting benzodiazepines. Study the impact that seizure clusters have on quality of life, injuries and healthcare utilization in children. Analyze the current use of rescue medications. Explore potential risk factors that could predispose patients to developing seizure clusters such as seizure localization, epilepsy syndrome, and history of clusters.
