Yale Pediatrics is one of the nation's premier departments devoted to improving through research our understanding of the causes and treatments of disorders that affect children. Research efforts within Yale Pediatrics include cutting-edge basic science and clinical research in many areas, and exciting translational research efforts that bring what is learned at the research bench to the bedside. Despite having a relatively small number of faculty members, Yale Pediatrics ranks among the top pediatric departments in the country in National Institutes of Health grant support because of their considerable research efforts. Many members of Yale Pediatrics are recognized both nationally and internationally for their contributions to pediatric research.

Another major goal of Yale Pediatrics is to foster the development of the next generation of leaders in pediatric research. This aim is achieved by providing a rich environment for the training of fellows and other post-doctoral trainees and for the development of junior faculty in the Department of Pediatrics and at Yale School of Medicine.

The exciting advances catalyzed by research in the Department of Pediatrics touch children from birth to adolescence and young adulthood. We invite you to examine the scope of these tremendous efforts within each section.
